We are finding that many photographers and art directors are drawn to homes that have a lot of light, beautiful details and a fresh feel. This home is no exception. With an abundance of light and a white on white aesthetic, this home is certain to draw a lot of attention.
Land set aside for state, federal and county parks here in Northern California is often breathtaking and unique. But shooting on public land can be complicated. The permit process takes time while the need for rangers doesn't allow for the flexibility many photographers are hoping for. Privately owned property doesn't have as many restrictions so we do our best to find the rare parcels that can compete with the splendor of the parks in the area.Like this one, north of San Francisco on Tomales Bay. This spectacular working ranch offers coastal and bay vista views, rolling hills, a grand ravine and access to the bay shore. The ranch is a working sheep farm, cattle spot the landscape and miles of road wind about the property. With out a doubt, this parcel stands up to much of the public open space in that area. There is so much this land has to offer that we have to make another visit to cover the rest. In the mean time, here is a sneak peak from our first visit to the property.
We just had the pleasure of scouting this beautiful Wine Country Gem.It is not often that we come across a property like this and we are very excited to add this location to our files.
We were sent to the Redwoods for a fashion client this month. These trees are enormous! We are lucky to have them in our neck of the woods... We have both National and State parks in Northern California that feature these majestic beauties. Some areas are really film friendly. These locations are also a great place to find spring at the end of summer in Northern California! Check out a few shots from the scout.
The California coast stretches for 1,264 miles from Oregon to Mexico. Although the stereotype of Californian beaches is a palm tree lined sandy expanse, we enjoy towering rocky cliffs along the shoreline of Northern California. This fall we were sent to the coast for a few projects calling for coastal cliffs and rocky shores. Here is a small sample form our adventures.

Producer: Tim Willis, Lockbox Productions
Photographer: Nick Onken, Portfolio
Client: Chevy
Location: Half Moon Bay, Marin County and San Francisco
Birdman teamed up with Tim Willis at Lockbox Productions last month for a Chevy photo shoot here in Northern California. The seven day shoot made its way from Martins Beach in Half Moon Bay through the San Francisco Financial District and on up into Marin County. Car shoots can be complex and we were on a tight time line for this one. Tim at Lockbox teamed us up with local San Francisco producer Anna Kauffman and we worked diligently to pull it off.We stopped by their set on Jackson St in San Francisco to check out their production. They used a Buck Car which has portions of the body cut away for different camera angles. Here are a few snap shots of Nick shooting the Buck Car.
Winter in Northern California brings with it lush green rolling hills, wild yellow mustard fields and new growth reminiscent of a fresh early spring. We have been working with several production teams these past few weeks who were looking for just that spring-like quality. Here is a taste of what Northern California offers in the winter-time:

The Marin Headlands is a highly desirable location for photo shoots. Curving coastal roads, ocean vistas, breathtaking views of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge, beaches and endless trails all draw photographers to the area. As of February 1, 2010 construction has begun on many of the roads that access these locations. Unfortunately the construction will take place through the fall of 2010. Conzelman Road and Hawk Hill are two of the most popular location requests that will be off limits. For more information visit the Project Headlands website. Here are a few shots from both locations.Conzelman RoadHawk Hill
